Results are tools, not authorities
Every calculator on this site performs a calculation and shows its working. That makes the output checkable, but it does not make it authoritative. Where a date matters legally — a filing deadline, a contract term, a statute of limitations, a visa window — confirm it against the primary source rather than a web page, including this one.
Time zone accuracy
Time zone conversion depends on your browser’s copy of the IANA time zone database. That database is well maintained for the present day and the recent past, but it is a reconstruction for the nineteenth century and earlier, and it cannot know about rule changes that have not yet been announced. A conversion into the future is a prediction of current rules, not a fact about the future.
Calendar accuracy
Dates are handled using the proleptic Gregorian calendar, which is the Gregorian calendar extended backwards before its introduction in 1582. Software uses this convention universally, but it may differ from the calendar actually in use at the time — the Julian calendar was still in use in Britain and its colonies until 1752, and in some countries later still.
Leap seconds are ignored, as they are in almost all software. A Unix timestamp produced here counts seconds on the standard scale, which differs from physically elapsed seconds by roughly half a minute over the period since 1970.
Your device clock
The live clock, the current timestamp and every figure derived from “now” read your device’s system time. If your clock is wrong or set to the wrong time zone, the page will faithfully show the wrong answer. Check the time zone name and the UTC offset shown under the clock if a result looks unexpected.
Age and date differences
An age expressed in years, months and days follows the calendar convention that registry offices generally use, but different institutions define age differently for their own purposes. A date range that includes its endpoints is a different number of days from one that excludes them. The tools state which convention they are applying; make sure it is the one your situation requires.
